Don’t think I’d fancy letting a car like that go 20k miles without a service even if it is recommended. Some of the rms elite near had a fit when I said I service mine every two years after about 2/3k miles in that time lol.

Yes it 2yrs or 20k whichever comes sooner.

So every 2yrs even you only do 2/3k miles.

I supplied my own oil for my Macan GTS service back in Sept by Porsche Belfast. They were perfectly fine with me supplying oil, the only stipulation was that it was to the exact spec they use. They willingly gave me the spec and I saved £100.

Thanks for that.... makes me feel justified in questioning costs.

Lovely lovely car. Did you have a 981 prior to the 718?

The only reservation I have to the newer 718 is the 4 pot turbo.. other than that they're superior and a real step up!

Yes, I have had a 997 cayman S, 981 Boxster, and the current 982 Cayman s.

Out of interest, do you get a price for a normal service, then ask for same exclusive of oil, so you know what you’re actually saving just?

They gave me a “price for a 2 year service” I asked them to go back and detail every item...

For any saving there might be which I very much doubt from past experience, you will only getting hit on resale value. To a buyer in South of England who is McMillan.....?
Nail and head. I personally wouldn’t entertain one that not been to a genuine dealer despite the fact a specialist may well do a better job.
If someone is gripping over a few quid for oil etc then in my mind I’d be thinking what else have they skimped on

Very few Porsches will ever have Porsche dealer history past its warranty period. I've certainly never owned or went to buy one with such a history.

Most of mine were all JZM, Hartec, RPM, 911virgin, RSJ etc who are all reputable specialists.

Those with specialist histories tend to be better, with oil changes every year or less than 10k miles, and end up being better cars. Rather than a 10 year old 911 with 100k miles and 5 oil changes.

I asked Porsche Belfast for the service cost and then asked for a price if I supply,my own oil. It was £165 less if I brought my own oil. Bought the oil from Euro Car Parts for £60 so saving was £105. All correspondence was by email but they seemed totally fine with the plan

I also priced McMillan who were about £100 less overall but for the reasons above I stuck to the main dealer as I will be selling this car at 3 or 4 years old with very low miles and reckoned a dealer history will be what buyers want. Didn't want to put anyone off by saying it was a specialist who they have never heard of who serviced the car.

Wee update..

Car went in for service and I supplied the oil..

20k service was £480ish with brake fluid change rather than £640 + £120 for the brake fluid. So deffo worth suppling my own oil.

I had major problems with water in both rear lights - turned out to be cracks in the lenses.

The replacement price was £1k for both but between Porsche uk and Porsche Belfast they stumped sorted it out for me at a very reasonable price!!

Wee pick of the car tonight

You had to partially pay for lights on a two year old car that were cracked?

Not sure I would have been paying anything for the lights on such a new car. If it was just one light then maybe stones but both being hit by stones seems unlikely.

992 will be class. I am booked to drive one for the half day experience at Silverstone in July. Should be fun and all free lol.

Hopefully the lights on the 992 fair better against ‘stones’. :grinning:

Well after 3 1/2 years its time to move on..

The car will be traded next week with 33500 miles on it. Depreciation has been pretty reasonable for a brand new factory ordered car.

Sorry to see it go - awesome car but the thought of owning a 4litre flat six car all be it slower is just to much.

Someone will get a awesome well spec'd car for very little.
