I currently have a 07 Pug 207 hdi 1.4 which we inherited from the wife's grandad when he passed on. Not the sexiest thing, nor all that nice to drive but does do a reasonable 50mpg, which while we are sorting house stuff makes things at bit easier.

It’s on 158k at the moment, has what I think is a front ARB bushing needing attention, prone to blowing bulbs all the time but it's still hanging in there.

I’ve a good few friends & family with these 207 1.4 hdi. Great wee cars.

Not quite the purpose of this thread but my old passat is made for bangernomics.

Bought from a forum member in 2016. Since then it has done 60k miles, been my log delivery machine towing trailers for easily 12k of those miles, been all over the UK and Ireland, survived 5 other “nice” cars, lay parked up for 6 months while I lived in New Zealand, and still giving faithful service today.

Full heated leather, stupidly comfortable, economic to run, parts are cheap.

It’s used for all the dirty work jobs. Bikes, dogs, farming. Lapped it all up, and other than a seized flywheel and a new gearbox, it’s been just fine.

The only time it ever brokedown to a stop, required another passat estate’s assistance.

Best of all it still cleans up alright.

Amazing how attached you get to these old workhorses. 150k on it now, I’d love to maintain it, keep it forever and see just how many miles it can clock up.

Fantastic, its the exact same way I feel about my E61. The amount I paid + cost to run it means its never worth me parting with it and its grown to become part of the family in our house.

My Dad is the same with his 2004 E class estate just keeps referring to the workhorse as a loyal old dog you'd never get rid of despite being past its best.

About 10x the value of the passat on it’s roof ✅
Bit like mine, bought this for just over a grand about 8 years ago. Was to act as a cheap 'stop gap' daily staff wagon when i changed jobs and handed back my company car.

8 years later and i love it, wouldn't change it for the world!! 214k and still going strong. Has certainly earned its keep! Pulled most things you can think of, took the whole family to the far reaches on holiday and still looks good imo. Bung the kids and the dogs in the back or a couple of fridges and away you go

This is my daily. Cost me £800 4 years ago. I've robabky spent more on carrying out improvements - replaced all the suspension components last year. Arms, bushes, Arbs, springs, drop links. Will do the shocks this year, and might refurb the rear beam. I don't think I'll ever sell it. We'll, never say never I suppose.

I've had a few bargains this year the latest is this 6 mps got for cheap. 84k cheaper tax been sat for two years need a bit of paint and MOT but it was cheap and will be worth spending the money on and have it mint, I'll not be losing any money when I go to sell it after I've drove it for a bit.

My recently retired E11 Corolla, purchased new from Kellys Toyota in 2000, registered 01/01/01 and 46K on it. It was my mothers car and the one I drove after I passed my test.
Been driving it since I handed the Octavia back to VW Finance in March 2020.

I am in the same position with my Dad's Astra, although I never drove it after he passed away.

I couldn't sell it though, I bought it for him back in 05 and he put over 200k on it.

The corolla is one of the most reliable cars ever made, I would keep it as a back up...

Stunning little Corolla, saw it on Sunday and was amazed at how bright and white it was in dirty wer conditions, even to the point I was wandering wether it wasa genuine Toyota colour.

Just a pity whoever was piloting it was driving like an absolute cock, undertaking multiple cars at over 80mph in greasy wet conditions.

Must be another one around as the car has been parked up since the middle of last week and wasnt being driven on Sunday.

Toyota Super white is a fantastic colour :grinning:

I posted it in another thread, but I bought this last December for cheap as it had been laid up for 8 years. I spent time and money (questionable bangernomics I know) to get it roadworthy, but it's fully fit as of July and gets used on my very short commute.

Tooling around in something cheap and unusual is kinda cool. I'll use it for a bit, but am on the hunt for this winter's project :grinning:

Currently on the lookout for something sub £1k. MOT preferable but will consider something without it if priced accordingly. Doesn't really matter if its petrol or diesel. Fire me a PM if you have anything.

@southsky sunrise just in case you have anything about you at the minute.
