What is it with the new vertical plane coming out from the cockpit towards the rear wing on the new cars!? I've noticed it on all the other cars but it looks like an after-thought on the Force India and rather ugly!

The shark fin? It's for aero stability, I think, and an area that's been opened up in the regulations. Won't help in a cross wind though.

Yeah the shark fin, couldn't think of a name for it! It certainly won't help in a cross wind - didn't realise they had opened that area up for this year.

That is for aero stability as above, one of the big rule changes this year

That, the wings, and then the biggest of the changes - the floor for ground effect.

Glad to see Mercedes approach to the 'shark fin' is a lot more pleasant than that of the rest so far!

This image really lets you see how wide the cars are and the changes in the floor and backswept front wings!

The floor space on the Mercedes is huge. Really neat packaging.

The thing is, they say they are going to run a shark fin at the Barcelona test so we'll have o see how graceful they can make it look
