For a few years I wanted a mk2 saloon
This popped up in England and was humble money so I jumped on it

it’s a 1986 1.6 cavalier L
It has either 42k or 142k 😂😂
Either way I don’t mind as inside is really clean with minimal wear on the steeeing wheel, pedals or gear stick

my overall goal of what it should look like when done

I was debating throwing a c25xe ( 2.5v6 ) then thought why not Saab b204, then said I’ve enough petrol cars why not 1.7td Izuzu?
but as I’m going calibre kit I may aswell fit a 2ltr 8v as per calibre mk2 cavalier
A good friend of mine has a calibre kit for me, waiting for him to dig it out of storage, also have 17” momo arrows waiting to collected.

the car does need a bit of work. Needs full paint but that’s no problem, I know it needs 1 rear arch an repair to the sill at the rear where the arch has gone so I’ve ordered 2 new arch repairs panels and 2 new sills.

other than that. I can’t wait to get started once I get the others sorted/completed

Great news
Remember my Dad having a blue one of these and trading it in for a grey MK3 Cavalier.

Very cool. It seems like no time ago the roads had a variety old older cars and now next to nothing...maybe I’m getting old. Definitely going with 142k though!

My dad bought a new one of those in 1985, 1.6 in burgandy. Remember it being quite a step up in terms of suspension and road holding from the previous MK4 Cortina 1.6. It rotted so badly though, rear arches and front footwell.

You’ve great taste in cars. I hope you get to fulfil your intentions
If I finish 1 of these cars
I’ll be chuffed
But I have the engine, I’ve bought the wheels, I have the car, just the kit which is there for me, once he digs it out I’ll go lift it
I will say. The kit isn’t far off what I paid for the car, but it’s something I always wanted. A mk2 cavalier.
once bought a mate seen it on Snapchat an said he had a kit if I wanted 1
I was going to repaint an just drive away at it but to make it look as a calibre is that extra added bonus

Take much to get her going?

If it's going alright I'd leave the engine and go kit and wheels tbh!
A set of plugs. Last owner changed 3 of the 4 plug leads. I pulled the plugs an they were black. Popped to work an got a set of plugs, some fresh petrol, an she fired up super fast an easy

I took it a spin to my home. Got dinner an drove it back to my shed. Made some room to put it in. Took about 20 minutes. Got the car through the she’s door an to it’s space an then it died, think it flooded itself
