Treated the big girl to a ‘carcoon’ went for the airflow brand for a couple of reasons… mostly relating to size, as I was very limited to space in my shed..

Got it up couple of weeks back… love the protection generally.. we’re multiple
Reasons why I went for one tho.

Big girl has had limited miles so far this year, mostly due to my bloody back!!

But got her down to @big_pete on Friday to get the wheels & calipers ceramic coated…. Pete has already done the rest of the car (previous owner) and i’m delighted with it

Fingers crossed myself and @PaulYDP are heading on a Euro road trip this week….. and for Spa and the ring next wk end… can’t wait to get away again for a proper trip…

Do you have any plans to head to a cars and coffee in it at some point this year. I would love to get a look round it as I am a big fan of them in fact like many on here it would be a dream car of mine.

How is the back now I read above its causing some issues?

nope - not me... but i know a guy in Belfast has a similar (991.2) in same colour.. and tends to be out and about a fair bit.

probably will - albeit not a huge cars n coffee/static/show kind of guy...... if only we had a decent 'motorsport' themed cafe/location to go to that was casual and not full of guys in Lexus driving around on the limiter !! would be fab... Back is very grumbly, suffering another bad bout of sciatic pain... albeit is better than it was ~3 weeks ago when i was dubious about this trip..... hopefully be ok now - with some care and pain relief !!

I am with you on this one we would benefit hugely of a Caffeen and the Machine type Venue here. I thought Dave @Driftgames was sorting something out but I have heard noting since. I do know that Pete (PMG) is looking into one but Issue`s with locals has kind of put the brakes on.

That`s not great on the back news sciatic pain is an absolute disaster. I had it a few times in my legs and its very uncomfortable but at least your getting better that`s a good sign.

Well, just back Tuesday night from an epic week long trip to Europe…

With @PaulYDP on the notes!! And a couple of other mates in a DB9, off we set….

Managed to pack in some stunning driving from Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg &Germany.

Cairnryan….. then Pennines & Hull ~ Rotterdam was the route across.

Pennines were good… one nice road was closed… but I asked the workers about access and they said give them 5 mins as they were finishing.. happy days. As it was rather quiet!

Actually managed the scariest moment on the trip through there. Car got very unsettled over short sharp series of bumps.. lucky nothing coming as it took me full of road to get it straight again… mate behind said drivers rear wheel was a foot in the air! And then crossed up sideways both ways 😩

Main purpose of the trip was Spa classic race meeting.. which was epic. We had designated parking right in the paddock for the wk end… right in the heart of it…

There were so many stunning vehicles, group C through to some really rare classics.. and a massive grid of classic 911s etc. some
Pro drivers… unreal.

That’s just a small selection!!

We also had ‘parade laps’ around the track… basically full track day type sessions, 80 cars!! And zero rules, was ‘interesting’ Saturday was a bit dodgy… some dubious drivers out there, and a few yellow flags etc… and didn’t feel I got to stretch the big girls legs… but on the Sunday session… was really good.. and mostly decent driving!! The car was simply epic, and a major box ticked driving it at Spa.

Then it was off to the ring.. we had decided not to risk our own cars… I had done it before on motorbike in 2005, but keen for the others to see/experience it.. so a ring taxi with apex M3 was the go…. And boy, did it go!!!! Shocking pace if I’m honest, like absolute balls out race pace! Tim Morley (British and euro GT professional racer) was driving, I was due to have a lap in their GT2RS but it was wrecked the wk before

Lots of other great driving on roads… we even got a good scalp up one of the long euro hill climbs (la Roche) which was awesome, albeit wet/damp…. The road surface was exceptional.

Heading for home, we decided to swing by Zandvoort too…. Fish and chips on beach… then visit to track, bike track day on.. so good atmosphere… and definitely a track to explore in future.

Car performed beyond expectations… it’s genuinely 3 cars for the price of one…. Stick it in auto, no sports exhaust, sat nav on…. And just quietly & comfortably cruise through traffic and motorways.

When the twisties arrive.. sports exhaust, full manual mode.. and it’s an absolute banshee!!

On track, PDK sport, sports suspension, sports exhaust.. stability control off… and it becomes an animal!!! Got a lovely slide on coming out of la source on one lap which was sublime..

Will be a VERY hard trip to top
To be honest.

Using it exactly as intended!

How’d the back fair up?

cheers Pete....... and thankfully she is MUCH easier to clean the 10 million flies off thanks to the coating 👌 wheels/calipers took a hammering of dust too.. so the coating will defo help there.

back was 'ok' leg pain fairly brutal.... bloody sciatic is hard to shift !! but thankfully was ok while in car/driving... it was the standing/walking around that got to be brutally painful at times.

thanks again for fitting me in.

It really was an unreal trip and not sure it will be topped! The GT3 is simply amazing, couldn’t think of a better car to have the pleasure of doing it in!

The lap around the ring was something else, proper commitment!

Got the big girl out to a Porsche Club track day at Kirky last Saturday… didn’t fancy a ‘normal’ busy track day, so a Porsche club day with 16-18 cars was perfect 👌

Was very relaxed day, only circulated for 4-5 laps at a time, meant the tyres didn't totally destroy themselves… and brakes were 200% fade free, and minimal wear.

Was nice to get it out and turn everything off!!! Out of hairpin in 2nd gear was definitely intersting!! ~500hp rear wheel drive defo takes a bit of respect.

Was absolutely blown away by the chassis and feedback, throughly fisherman’s was spectacular with just a slight hint of understeer that could be provoked into very slight oversteer with throttle.

The car just continues to blow my mind.

Pics care of Paul D and Steve Hawthorne
