That interior looks sooo mint @mike150 (as does the rest of the car lol). My m3 had a seriously mint interior too and would often get into cars only a year old or less and it would put them to shame lol.

Out of curiosity what is the difference between the screen your insurance is offering over a genuine one? Funny when I look at a car I always check to see if its original glass but would only really put me off if it was a side or rear screen replaced as I'd think it was broken into.

They can't tell me what the difference is but as one is made in Germany by Saint-gobain and the other is made in God knows where by who knows I'm thinking the quality wouldn't be the same.

Also Porsche use a specialist glass fitter and my insurance company use Auto glass who have a target to hit every day.

It's annoying when they can't give you any confidence though I'm sure it would be pilkington which imo would be acceptable. Just a matter of making sure the fitter is competent but get where you're coming from.
Better just biting the bullet now though if you're going to eventually go the pricey route so you at least get your money's worth if you know what I mean.

I use an Independent company called JS Windscreens, he replaced the glass on my 997 with an OE screen from Porsche Belfast and sorted all the paperwork for me to claim from Aviva. I just paid the excess.

Admiral will only contribute £50 to a replacement screen if you don't go through them and Autoglass.

I'll look JS up or maybe you could send me the details.

Admiral put a genuine screen on mine.... eventually... Let me explain.

The non-gem screens don't fit, the curve is incorrect, therefore auto glass fitted a non-gun screen to mine and it fitted poorly. After complaining, they agreed to order and fit a genuine screen.

Nightmare, but after some googling, it's a very common issue and unfortunately people seem to have to go through what I went through before they fit the genuine one.

Thanks for the information. That's what I had read about the non genuine screens but so far I have got nowhere with Admiral other than - take the non genuine or have £50.................

I'm wondering how I can go about convincing them only really because I'm frightened that in fitting the screen the car may get marked somewhere and therefore it's a job I really don't want done twice.

I'm like an expectant parent..........

The guy got a full interview, he's with Autoglass 26 years, he's done a few 997s and knew it was a 1 man job and a Boxster is a 2 man job. So he passed and I let him at it............

Downside, it's a Fuyao screen made in China. Apparently they're just a good as Pilkington or Saint Gobain. Will see.

Hope it’s ok, worst decision ever on my van, chipped the trailing edge of the bonnet and the non original screen heaters are absolute rubbish compared to oem, I should’ve made more of a fuss, I’ll never use autoshambles again :worried:

All seems 100% with the screen although I'll have to drive it to be sure there's no wind noise but it looks fine. Actually better fitted than the Saint Gobain screen that came out

Haven't updated this since screen fitment..........

Screen it 100%, wish I hadn't fretted. Cars booked into Porsche for a minor service soon and a few weeks ago my driver's window went 'CRUNCH' on it's way down, window regulator, I opened it up and had a look, had a look online and just thought it's a job I don't want to do and as it needs a service soon .............

I've been too busy since starting detailing cars to do a job I don't want to do.

Porky is even a cover car for www.msdetailing.org

Such a car to drive, just the right mix of feel and speed, it's fast but not too fast imo

Just serviced in Porsche and needed a window regulator fitted ......

DSC_1307.JPG

Asked them not to wash it as I detail cars for a living. 8 days and a few unreturned phone calls later to ask what was going on I got fed up and asked to speak to the service manager. Result, it would be ready in half an hour after they finished washing it!!!!

Arrived down to find it ready and needing washed as they'd done a piss poor job, it was left to them like a new pin FFS

Motd it the next day, got home and washed it, after drying it I found fallout dust all over the top surfaces!!!! Called said manager again even more unimpressed and he was great, agreed a good will gesture and I spent today cleaning it again........

Decision made, for sale!!! I love it but I could do with the space on occasions when I've a few cars in and I don't get time to use a third car.

That said I should have been at Spa and the ring this weekend with mates but that's another story..........

Being beside H&W must be a nightmare for Porsche/Audi as well as any enthusiasts in the area - when I was in Bombardier there was an issue where a lot of cars were getting covered and if you put in a request for your car to be sorted, it was sent to be detailed/sorted.
