Thought I'd put a thread up not so that I can update it with all the mods I've done but as way for people to follow exactly what breaks on these and how it is to live with day to day.

Yes I've read the stories, but you could call it a morbid curiosity lol. Plus when they work, there really is no better place to sit and cruise around.

So bought this when I was away in Iraq last month and lifted it yesterday at Gatwick. Sold the Shogun earlier this year so this is the replacement snow car/farm labourer/towing machine.

It's a 2006 4.4 V8 with the jag V8 instead of the BMW V8. Chose this after much research and had it narrowed down to this engine or the 4.2 supercharged. Would have settled for any, but this came up first and I like the fact its a lazy V8 rather than the supercharged nippier version.

This one was owned by the last owner for 8 years and 65k miles, so I knew a lot of the history, plus have receipts for everything. No advisories on previous mots was a good sign(bar tyres this year I believe), and the guy was genuinely sad to let it go.

It's a Vogue so has most of the toys, heated rear seats, digital TV, venture cam(pointless wireless camera that can be used for offroading/hitching trailers), heated steering wheel, etc etc.

Filled it from quarter full yesterday at Gatwick at a cost of £116 and that got me all the way home and then some! 24.5mpg averaged, and 520miles done with around 50miles remaining, I'm very impressed.
No warning lights came on, no breakdowns occurred, just wafted home in comfort.

Couple of small jobs to do, mainly aesthetics and will stick some winter wheels and tyres on it for the wife to use when I'm away.

Will update this as and when faults occur!

All broken
Brilliant. I an sooo tempted with one of these yokes for the family wagon. Never had a jeep before and at some point soon the likes of a v8 will simply be outlawed and never seen again. Following with interest!

Love it! I naively assumed it was a diesel.

You had me looking at RR’s this morning!

@gav525 Is that actually green in colour, or black? Hard to tell in those pics with the strong sun.

Just been on Autotrader. The supercharged ones are 400bhp - how did I not realise this before?!!

Are RR Sports just a bit chavvy?

Just a vogue? Peasant.

The alternative being lol? The SE maybe so as I could have TVs in the back so that my children that I don't have could watch them?

@gav525 Some beast of a machine, what is the rather large remote control thing? Never seen it before, assuming it's not the central locking fob :confounded:

That's the venture cam lol, like a remote camera that you can put on the ground when "offroading" and check clearance or for sticking on the back window for hooking up a trailer lol.

Was probably very futuristic back in 2006

I had one off these also the Jag 4.4 V8. Fantastic car, so comfortable and the sound system is much better than the one in my L405 TDV8 Vogue.

ahh right i see, would be pretty cool actually (y)

I keep looking at the 2008 Range Rover Sports HST models. They've fairly dropped in price, but still a decent amount of coin to drop on a 10+ yr old car.....can't convince myself to buy, as nearly everyone i've like and checked the MOT history on comes with a long list of advisories/previous fails for all the ususal range rover issues, also i've absolutely no need at all for a 4x4 living in Belfast city centre i just want one

The latest one to catch my eye, but buying privately at that price has me uneasy

2008 Black LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT 4.2 V8 Supercharged HST 5dr for sale for £12850

Definitely impressed with the sound system, it's unreal! User interface a wee bit dated now but it is a 2006 I suppose.

That does look class! Nice House, Ferrari in the drive also, I'd definitely give them a ring and see what the craic is.
This one was bought private an all, the guy was so detailed in his email responses and phone calls i knew he was genuine. Every little mark on it he sent photos of, and even sent me pdf copies of all his service invoices.
