Thought I'd put a thread up not so that I can update it with all the mods I've done but as way for people to follow exactly what breaks on these and how it is to live with day to day.
Yes I've read the stories, but you could call it a morbid curiosity lol. Plus when they work, there really is no better place to sit and cruise around.
So bought this when I was away in Iraq last month and lifted it yesterday at Gatwick. Sold the Shogun earlier this year so this is the replacement snow car/farm labourer/towing machine.
It's a 2006 4.4 V8 with the jag V8 instead of the BMW V8. Chose this after much research and had it narrowed down to this engine or the 4.2 supercharged. Would have settled for any, but this came up first and I like the fact its a lazy V8 rather than the supercharged nippier version.
This one was owned by the last owner for 8 years and 65k miles, so I knew a lot of the history, plus have receipts for everything. No advisories on previous mots was a good sign(bar tyres this year I believe), and the guy was genuinely sad to let it go.
It's a Vogue so has most of the toys, heated rear seats, digital TV, venture cam(pointless wireless camera that can be used for offroading/hitching trailers), heated steering wheel, etc etc.
Filled it from quarter full yesterday at Gatwick at a cost of £116 and that got me all the way home and then some! 24.5mpg averaged, and 520miles done with around 50miles remaining, I'm very impressed.
No warning lights came on, no breakdowns occurred, just wafted home in comfort.
Couple of small jobs to do, mainly aesthetics and will stick some winter wheels and tyres on it for the wife to use when I'm away.
Will update this as and when faults occur!
