No its back down to 97 but since you mention it, I need to double check. Its def not on the 99 map

I have 3:
  1. Performance A (95)
  2. Performance B (97/98)
  3. Performance C (99/100+)
id try it right back at 95ron and work your way back up - the fuel literally could be crap/contaminated which is why your getting the hesitating at low rpm, on boost - old skool pinking lol

Quite possibly and will do. Full tank of BP SUL yesterday evening from Ards so will see how it goes

are you able to reset the fuel trims also? or does switching the map do the reset for you?

I've no idea what this means :joy:

I assume switching does what you say

TIL:

What are Fuel Trims? Fuel trim is the adjustment the engine computer makes to the fuel mixture to maintain a balanced air/fuel ratio. Either the engine is taking away fuel or adding fuel so the exhaust byproducts, measured by the oxygen sensor, add up to an efficient operation

if it doesnt then just reseting the ecu or disconnecting battery and discharging all residual charge left in car should reset the trims

@arnbeckett is this fuel being distributed by Solo with the Exocet added already or do you add it yourselves. Just curious how the process works?

I am not looking anything from them but an acknowledgment or thanks for your email would have been nice
Thats it, at least reassurance they are looking in to it/taking action to resolve would perhaps give a bit more confidence.

Id often thought of filling the Escort when over but following your experience theres no chance

Anyone else tried filling drums to see if there was any contamination... recently filled from the A29 Solo with no issues as posted previously.

Also filled up at the OP's station in ballyrobert and no issue

From previous conversations I've had with OP he buys the fuel in quantities in line with the dilution guidelines from Exocet, so no need for any measuring/calculating on his end, I don't know the method of dilution or its affects, he can maybe comment on that.

Hi, we order Super Unleaded 97 from Solo in multiples of 2000 litres, that way we can open a fresh 1 litre bottle to pour into the tank, so there is no calculations needed for mixes. Its poured in before the unleaded so that it mixes fully.

Hi newbie here, been following this thread for a bit now and started filling my car up with the 99 ron SU at Mace Clandeboye.

Around the time of the first fill up I noticed I was having to put my foot down a bit going up steep hills. Never thought much of it but it got worse and worse to the point where it was dead when you put your foot down. Took it to the garage and no fault codes came up, I thought it was a coil pack, cam follower or something like that but turns out it was bad petrol.

Needed a new fuel filter(which was absolutely filthy) and spark plugs that were burnt out. Don't even know yet if that's all the damage that was done the car definitely still has some throttle lag it didn't have before all this. All I can do is keep running it hoping it cleans out. Is there anything else I should get checked?

I wouldn't touch Solo SU with a barge pole now. Here's the filter and the "petrol", if you can call it that, that came out. Looks more like shuck water.

Edit: I should add all I'd been using before that was Texaco supreme unleaded from Comber or Sainsbury's at Bangor with no bother at all. I filled up with solo SU 3 or 4 times with nothing else in between so I was using that only.

Used the 99 ron SUL from Clandyboye Solo for about 6 months without any issues but have since reverted back to BP SUL for the last 3 fills. Think i'll stick with BP 8o|

It's taught me to stay with the petrol my car runs well on. I don't use BP Ultimate any more I did for ages but my engine was noisy and had a slight bump at idle that went away when I started using Texaco and Sainsbury's stuff. Some cars don't seem to like it and others do. If you're car runs well on it then I'd stick with BP I'm sure it'll be clean.

Frustrating that I thought I was doing the car good when I found that 99 ron which is what it should be run on.

I went to get some 99 for the mower yesterday from the 24h filling station in Cookstown but both pumps are out of order.

Funny went for 99 in Ballymoney last weekend and both had plastic bags wrapped around their handles.

To be honest posting the picture of black fuel from a filter is not really fair. Petrol fuel filters tend to be as black as your boot especially in tank versions
The fuel filter could've been in for years so I can't say it was just that fuel but thats the excess that came out of the pipe from the tank it didn't come out of the filter. Car was running perfect before using that, the loss of performance was serious in the space of three weeks. It got worse after every fill up. Mechanic couldn't believe the state of the petrol and how bad a state the plugs were in.

The ticking noise and general noise of the engine was that bad I didn't drive it for 3 days afraid I was damaging the engine plus it just wasn't accelerating at all in higher revs above 2k. Drained that fuel, changed filter and spark plugs, filled with other SU and the tickings gone and power is coming back. It's definitely not all clear because it's not 100% still a bit of an intermittent judder at idle that's what I'm a bit worried about.

Hope they sort the problem it'd be great to be able to get 99 ron in Northern Ireland. It's a pity.

What is your car/engine and what fuel is it mapped for?

Maybe they've realised theres a problem and are sorting it out. Seems not all cars are affected maybe I've just been one of the unlucky few that've got a bad batch. Anyway it needs rectified, it's the first time I've come across this problem in 25 years of driving. Gonna take a bit to trust them again.

Audi TT 2L tfsi mapped for 99 ron.

This certainly seems to knock confidence on the use of the Solo stuff, especially from Comber but not all garages will be the same.

Strangely enough I have half a tank of the Comber Solo stuff in the Clio (having run a few tanks through already on track days with no adverse effects) at the moment and it's started flashing the engine management light on when sitting idle, which indicates something related to plugs, HT leads or injectors. Given the HT leads are fairly new and the plugs only have a few thousand on them, I'll be pulling the injectors and replacing them over the next few weeks. Might pull the fuel filter/tank cap out and have a nosey - might be unrelated but who knows, it is French after all.

I haven't got round to pulling the injectors or fuel filter out of the Clio however without fail, every time the car was idling at a set of lights for more than 15/20 seconds, the engine management light would flash. At it was nearly empty, fired some BP Ultimate in on Saturday and it hasn't happened since. Could have been the fuel in my case... or it could just be put down to being an old french car. I'm going with the latter, however will be sticking with BP for now (has a 98 ron RSTuner map).

Have you checked the plugs? Mine were in a terrible state.

Funny thing is I read about the problems with the Comber one but thought that big Mace would get their tanks cleaned regularly as it's so busy.
