@gixermark Totally agree, some very skilled engineers and fabricators over this side of the water, most certainly doing it for the love of it. If it was 2-3times the price I simply couldn't afford it or it would have to be a once in a lifetime thing!

Some progress this week, small brackets and mounting yet more parts.

242617

4L Electronivally Actuated Extinguisher mounted over the Axle

242618

12V Anderson Plug mounted for Battery Boosting, this will be used for starting the car around the Paddock with a Large Slave battery.

242619

Another wee mount for my Brake Bias control

242620

A couple more areas Tidied around the engine Bay, think the Tidying side is now complete and the new engine can be fitted to look at the radiator wasn't water pipework locations

242621

1st Stab made at mounting the switch Panel, sits on the top tunnel next to the gearlever

A few bits still to do on the list, but on the home straight now for strip down, blast & paint at the start of August.

I have been gathering some Parts to mock up the ITB induction system while the engine is in the car to check bonnet clearances and a
few changes are required to mount the dry sump pump.

It should sound Epic on open trumpets, I'll maybe design some kind of airbox and cold air feed down the line.

Also i've ordered a new flywheel to accept a 7.25" Twinplate clutch that I had for another car, this will take 500lbft with a minimal rotating mass allowing for the engine to rev freely.

I can do this when the car is away for paint and measure up for a custom longer input shaft for the Tractive Gearbox etc.

She's coming together nicely now young Leinster, it would be a shame if you couldn't get this out on a tarmac rally but not sure if the 4.9L donkey fits into anyone's regs?! Would be some craic. I'm happy to pay the entry and shout the notes!

I'll be honest ive stayed away from this thread recently because it pains me how little i've managed to get done to the escort but this is just incredible, what a car (y)

Thanks Richard, Hopefully the escort makes some headway in the next few months for you! Keep Pushing!

It won't work for MSA Rallys, but I think I can enter some of the Rally Sports Association Days at Nutts corner, Shakleton & Mondello. Your top of the list for notes (y)(y)

@IL could you sweet talk organisers as running 00 or something?

MSA are painful at best to deal with on historic type stuff at the best of time!

00 cars are required to have Motorsport uk licensed crews (as in safety car license) and from 1st August, carry a dashcam. The role is very much on safety rather than the “ free cut” at a rally.

Incredible - can't wait to see this!

Cheers Kiev, long time coming!

I must have given you 400 likes throughout the duration of this thread. Just can’t get enough of it.

Thanks Anthony! hopefully will maintain a decent pace with it now until its built

That would be great fun, but it will be useless on a proper rallystage, its on the floor and has about 4" of bump Damping so crests & hidden dips would be seriously hairy!

It would be fine for a flat single venue, I do also have some BL ex-works Bilsteins tho... But the Geometry is all built around the Circuit suspension.

I know it's a safety role, but would at least have a chance to have the thing out and seen on a stage!

Sadly the TR7 never really had enough suspension travel to be any use on anything other than smooth tarmac. It would be great to see one properly modified for use in rallying here but I'd doubt if it would ever be able to cope with the bumps. This will be great on the sprints and hills though. (y)
