Refresh of the front brakes on the MR-S.

Long overdue by the looks of it. If anyone wants the old units to refurbish let me know.

As ever I do one job and find a few more - front suspension needs attention next.
Doing the same on our own mr2 in the coming weeks. Were the discs expensive? I don’t know whether to keep the originals which are dead on or invest in grooved for the track.

Quite cheap in fact - under £80 for discs and pads which seemed reasonable.


I've used M-tec for brakes before and so long as you avoid the Mintex pads they seem okay. The salt air down here eats even the genuine stuff so I'm expecting to get a year or three out of them and replace anyway. I usually prefer solid discs as the grooved can generate a bit of noise but at least they look the part.

Worth mentioning - I've spare front calipers and carriers in case you get stuck, imported a few sets in as I knew I'd be tackling mine. If yours aren't worth working with give me a shout. Was so handy just binning the rusty stuff!
