Anybody know of any good deals about for winter tyres?
Or any recommendation for which tyre to buy.

I'm after 225/55 R17's for a Freelander.

I got All Season tyres for the Mrs' Freelander last week. TBH, the summer Goodyear's that were OEM on it coped well in the snow and ice last year so I just thought I'd give these a try as a bit of a compromise that I don't have to swap off / over.

"All Season" tyres are just summer tyres with slightly larger tread and another name, same as "M+S".

Not a patch on a proper winter tyre.

Very true, no argument there. I'll be able to tell you all if it was a good idea by next March lol

Don’t leave it until the last minute. Give yourself enough time and I’m sure your local trusted tyre dealer can sort something out for you.

Ive looked at just about every online tyre retailer for a price of the Grabber AT3’s and Kumho tyres I got last year from my local tyre place, and I can’t find anywhere on the web to match their price for supply only, never mind supply, fit and balance.

Hard to beat local retailers at times yet they’re often overlooked.

They wouldn’t fit on summer tyres .i wonder would 245 fit any better .?yes it’s liwered 15-20”
Possibly but I wouldn’t guarantee it. You may find a budget tyre could fit. Budget tyres tend to be a little under the spec e.g. could actually measure in at 236 whereas something like a Michelin could measure in at 254.

Give it a go, it’s only money :p

True that an All Season will never beat a winter but an All Season will carry the mountain snowflake symbol, meaning it’s legal to use I Europe during winter months. Near enough all All Season tyres are a modified winter tyre unless it’s the Michelin CrossClimate which is a winter certified summer tyre.

As for the majority of budget summer tyres that carry the ‘M+S’ marking, that’s just meaningless and should never be sold as an All Season.

I’ve ran the Maxxis AP2 All Season and they did brilliantly for me last winter.

But the perfect set up as you say, is 2 sets of tyres, dedicated summer and dedicated winter.

I always buy from my local guy who is part of Modern Tyres but he says they aren't bringing in any winter tyres this year. Only tyres he could offer me were a no name budget tyre and a Michelin Crossclimate.

Ordered some from Oponeo this morning. Then I checked Camskills and my full order would have been £12.80 cheaper from Camskills. Sadface

Had the same response on from Modern Tyres when I enquired about the all seasons so I ordered them from Pneus online and got them fitted by MR near work.

They just want to flog what they have on the shelf and not have the bother of individual orders...

Anyone fitted winter tyres yet? I was lazy and left the winter tyres on the mini over the summer  I’m off this week and was thinking I should maybe chance sticking them on now as the temperatures are dropping
