£50k to spend - has to be fast, do 30mpg on a motorway run and be kind of ‘special’.

God what a snorefest, are you 150 years old or something? It's like something to drive when you are no longer allowed to drive.

I'll admit that was a bit harsh but those big Merc Coupe's are milled from billet boredom ffs, but with 544bhp & 2136kg so it's got a similar power/weight ratio close to a mid 90's GC8 Impreza!!

All broken
Or the Merc S500 Coupe is a nice looking car (also available in cabrio form for that south of France look).

This cream interior is nice, though lower mileage ones in black seem available at the 50k mark.

I had an older CL500 and although a capable GT car for covering a long distance, it wasn't even remotely special feeling or fun, not in the slightest
What about an Aston Martin vantage?

That car was in that dealership last October when I bought my XF there. You could tell from miles away it was a respray and wasn't always yellow.

The 21 was a way of looking for a new product for Caterham as they were a one trick pony with only the 7. Thing is, it could never compete with the more mainstream movers in that market and particularly the Elise platform which was so much more advanced. The Nearn family sold Caterham in 2005 because they couldn't see a way to develop it as a business. TBH, I think the 7 still has a good following although it's too raw for most as a road car and there are a lot more other options to make your own version of a 7 too for considerably less than a Caterham. (Not to the same standard though)
