I'd a 2.8 CRD, wasn't hard on juice, bit smoky on start up but that's common enough when they need heater plugs. Rear diff mounts can give bother, they are a big boomerang shaped arm, bushes at either side and a massive ball joint in the centre. Easy enough done on a ramp.
Thermostats can fail open, cheap enough and easy got at.
They are very sharp surprisingly, not big inside and the rear door opens to the side. Very hard plastic inside but I suppose thats off road stuff for you. I took it to a Todd's Leap day with guys from here and only got caught out once.
It will tow anything.

I know do enough to know they didn’t make a 2.7 lol. Be 2.5 or 2.8, 2.8 if auto I’d imagine. Noisy engine and thirsty in auto form (really thirsty) but very nippy. Rwd with selectable 4wd and low box, and randomly a stupidly high towing capacity for their size, like 3500kgs or something.
Yea, quick reg check shows it as 2.8. Might be worth a nosey. Thanks

Rather then start a new thread, anyone know of someone looking to part with a freelander 2? 3-4k budget. Ideally a manual.
