None of them are winning races at the moment :p

What papers choose to write and news choose to report is hardly his fault? Nothing to do with him. He just does whatever keeps him happy.

It obviously makes it easier for him to focus on the job as well. Everyone is different, this is obviously what works for him at the moment.

As long as he keeps winning, I could not give a monkeys if he paints his hair orange or wears a toga or gets kicked out of Wimbledon or whatever.

Or if the "news" chooses to report on his hair colour or whatever. That is what they do. Always have done.

Agreement between the engine manufacturers to allow more development next year. And also more in-season development, so no "freeze" by February.

BBC Sport - Honda and Renault to be aided by planned engine rule changes

Good news for Honda and Renault. But obviously Ferrari and Mercedes will also be allowed the same, so they will keep improving too. I guess the hope is there are less gains to be made for them.

As part of the agreement, they will also be allowed to supply 2015 engines to customer teams. So basically all other teams on the grid will have old engines, and no hope.

Which puts Red Bull back to square one.

Really cannot see any way out for them. Only option is a 2015 engine and fighting it out with Force India, Sauber, etc...

Might be decided via driver numbers, leaving Ricciardo on pole (he's no.3).

100% chance of rain today in Austin :worried:

Quali tomorrow, before the race. Will be a busy day!

Cannot imagine driver numbers being used, they mean nothing after the change allowing drivers to pick numbers themselves and keep them for life.

More likely to be based on last year's results (equivalent to when the driver numbers actually meant something), or previous race, or whatever.

suprised at honda tbh would have thought they would have been up towards the pointy end of the grid by now.

Been asleep the last year or something? :p :innocent:

The way the rules are written, they are not allowed to develop the engine during the season.

Only between seasons. And even then, without any testing. And still limited. Plus all the others will be allowed the same development to their own engines.

Simply means if you were not in from the start, then you have no hope of catching up. Ever. Even Ferrari might never be able to close the gap completely.

As simple as that. Nothing to do with technology or capability.

Only surprise is why Honda agreed to those rules. McL, of course, had no choice, as they would never get competitive engines from Ferrari or Mercedes. Same situation as RB. When Honda give up at the end of next year, McL will be in a real pickle, just as RB is now.
