Those are all fair enough imo, the driver should drive the car, he shouldn't be told what to do from the pits.

If the brake balance is towards the front too much in a certain braking zone making the car unbalanced at the rear he should have to figure it out himself, not just ask what settings his teammate is using and copy those....same for throttle application, racing line etc.

Was bored this evening and dong a bit of reading.

I cant decide if McLarens floating gearbox is innovative or historic, it just really harks back to the old Chapman designed Lotus 49 with the stressed drivetrain which everyone has copied since. One thing is for sure, they might e able to do a lot with the aero with it so open at the rear.

The W05 Merc engine was pictured for an engineering award and is a work of art.

Yes, Force India are running a modified 2014 car in Barcelona.

They are blaming manufacturing issues for the absence of their 2015 car from testing.

I still fear they and Sauber will be next for the chop, after Caterham and Marussia :worried:

On a happier note, I see there is talk of 1000-bhp engines  No agreement how to get there, just talk, but sounds good to me!

it sounds great but smaller teams cannot afford the engines as is. I assume the 1000bhp will not come from a 1.6 v6 turbo engine? to be fair if it does thats epic

The extra power will come from bigger fuel allowance and bigger flow rate ,
and a slightly bigger electrical charge output .

Plans for 1000bhp F1 cars in 2017 still under discussion
The brief debate over Marussia’s 2014 car was just a sideshow to the main business of yesterday’s F1 Strategy Group meeting, which was to look ahead at potential rule changes that are intended to increase the sport’s appeal.

All the big players were at the meeting, including Bernie Ecclestone, Jean Todt, Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda (Mercedes), Ron Dennis and Eric Boullier (McLaren), Sergio Marchionne and Maurizio Arrivabene (Ferrari), Christian Horner (Red Bull), Claire Williams (Williams) and Bob Fernley (Force India).

Although there were no definite conclusions and discussions will continue, F1 is still heading towards 1000bhp engines in 2017. The F1 Engine Group is exploring how a relaxation of the limits of fuel flow, and the maximum amount available for the race, can best be adjusted to that end.

Major changes to bodywork and the introduction of wider rear tyres remain in the table for 2016, and Bernie Ecclestone apparently said that Pirelli would be able to deal with the latter, despite earlier suggestions that the Italian company would prefer to wait.

One of the key focuses of the current research is what the cost implications are for the teams, given that any rules changes involve extra expense.

“That’s what they are looking at now,” said once source. “One of the failings that we’ve had before is that it’s always been engineering driven, and now it’s going to be an engineering desire, but cost driven. It’s 2017, the question is can it be brought forward to ’16?”

Mclaren still having problems running today in Barcelona ..

Eyewitnesses at Barcelona on Monday also reported that the new MP4-30 is still struggling to run.

Spain's El Mundo Deportivo claims the car managed "barely half a dozen laps" during its filming day.

Another Spanish daily, AS, quoted observers as saying the car did "two laps all day", while Marca agreed that the 2015 car "showed no clear signs of improvement" since the troubled Jerez test.

Also , Ferrari thinks F1 should be heading this interesting direction ,
