Grp4 Starlet for rallying, with all the bits. Nearly finished rebuilding my Civic so will begin the hunt for a clean Starlet base soon.

I’ve been slowly building mine for ten years now and I am continuing slowly building it. It’s took so many turns in recent years with me changing idea’s and engine but it will be done some day one day.

I did this to a Scimitar. Clifford, you may remember me leaving a note enquiring about buying that one in your yard about 8 years ago :grinning:

That is stunning, by Clifford, I'd guess you're talking about my dad! We now have no scimitars!

My mistake. I put 2 and 2 together and got 4 1/2.

Very close though haha!

l actually saw a mustard yellow one on an NI reg one in Dublin outside work on Thursday, reminded me of dads first one which unfortunately went up in flames.

Darryl's thread on RetroRides for this car was fantastic.

Holy moly I just read though the build, what a project and what a piece of ingenuity and engineering. I was on buying a Camaro later in the year but after seeing this the ideas are going mad in my head. Only thing is I wouldn't have the talent to do that work. I'd be stumped at how to fit an Alfa V6 to an auto!

Guys we have got a doner car to rebuild the rs turbo into and the painter really wants to paint it black which would mean a colour change from red .Personally I had a black rs new back in 1991 and would be keen on going black but I wonder how it would affect the cars value .you can change the tax book colour can’t you or is that a real balls to do .The car will never be a showcar but will be a well restored but useable classic so I’m unsure what way to go .what would you advise ??identical car to my old one above .

Since it's being re-shelled, I wouldn't think a colour change will affect it much. You've got the chance to build it how you like it.

Fully built N/A F20c powered AE86 or Mk1/Mk2 Escort.
Escorts are out of reach of the average working man now unfortunately same as the Toyota ect .a good build escort is going to stand you £30k plus now unless you can do most of the work yourself ,which I can’t unfortunately .

The AE86 is obviously the more achieveable one but yes I agree they are all massive money now days, I could do most of the work myself, I wouldn’t be majorly fussed about running genuine Ford parts either, blasphemy to the ford heads I know.

I bought a MK1 vrs estate with 90k on it and a noisy first gear to fart about in.
Few months later bought a Leon cupra r with seized engine and had toyed with the idea of full conversion of gearbox, rebuilt engine, k04, brembos etc.
Then a cheap mk1 popped up for spares or repairs money so ideal for the gearbox and upgrade to 17" spiders.

Leon and white Vrs broken and kindly disposed of by southsky sunrise.
