I watched a episode last night of Wheeler Dealers on the same car, last series. It is on catch up.
It looks lovely, enjoy it.

Happened me years back on a sailing from Stranraer, we were delayed because of high winds and I was starving, called at a local chippy for a chip and burger, the burger was battered?!? And unknown to me it was haggis inside…….so onto the boat, shops start to lock up due to the choppy sea and I think, I’m not feeling too hot….threw up for Ireland along with the rest of the boat, was like a Monty python sketch tbh 🤣🤣

As kids we went Rosslaire to Le Harve and on the way over our ship stopped to rescue people on a yacht in gale force 10. I spent the whole journey with my head down the toilet 🤢🤢
I kissed the ground when we got to France.
On the way home it was flat calm.

Cheers everyone, bit of a dream car / driving experience for me tbh, has to be one of the cheapest ever bought in the uk and exterior is pretty much mint and drove home no bother. Will hopefully get it a wash and a few pics this afternoon and post them.
Lovely…..I can just imagine that boat last night 🤣🤣
I can’t swim, dont like water or boats so not a great start lol all the bottles in the shop kind of jumped and the boat came down with a huge bang, people screaming and crying, not pleasant haha
That's class! More pics please! And videos of how it sounds!

Always loved these
how can we upload videos? Just through YouTube?

I think so, that's what I use. Think Vimeo as well possibly?

After missing out on a cat n car about a month ago I set an alert for 4200’s on autotrader not really expecting anything to come up in price range. But a couple of weeks ago this place Used cars Clay Cross, Used car Dealer in Derbyshire | BAM Specialist Cars posted a nice “trade sale” trade in with great clean history and a clutch with plenty of life at a great price.

Enquired, stuck a cheeky bid on it and surprisingly we did a deal only slightly above my offer.

We headed over yesterday, had a great time looking over some of the stuff in the showroom including some old muscles cars and a 993 turbo that was stunning, and drove her home faultlessly.

Exterior and interior are both in very gd condition (bar apparently very common sticky buttons) was previously wrapped matte black and think that has helped the paintwork, as always it needs a bit of work with a noisey idler pulley, slight clicking style noise when using full lock and a handbrake that doesn’t work very well and thinks its always on but tbh it drives 100%.

Standard bar the exhaust which is hugely loud lol think its a custom system with sports cats. The cambriocorsa / f1 gearbox is completely different to anything I’ve used and tbh a bit **** in town but is actually really nice on the paddles when out off town. The engine is just biblical lol pulls like nothing I’ve owned and screams, pretty soft and easy to drive out of sport but in sport it’s actually really nice to push down the road and just love how weird everything is lol.

Few places back in the que for the bits and pieces needing done but will hopefully get a good bit of enjoyment out of it over the next few months, such an event driving it anywhere and all for the price of a decent rs clio!

Absolutely brilliant! I think this era of Maser are great value for some serious craic, fair play to you for giving it a punt. Good colour too.
The last Maser I tinkered on was a 1985 QP 2.5 turbo, nothing to be afraid of tbh.

Unbelievable value when you look at what you can compare them against, nearly 400bhp rare italian 4 seat sports car / gt car, I love a left field bargain and think this is right up there atm.

Yeah love the colour combo, the headlining is similar to the carpets so makes the inside feel really bright which is about all I ask for inside. Here’s hoping I have the same luck in working on her haha

Love it , health to drive
Cheers mate, it’s actually very similar to the one you sent me, will have to see what it went for in the end.

Steering clicking fixed on the 4200 for free 👌 steering rack mounting bolts were slightly loose causing it to shift from side to side slightly.

Tightened up and running 100% but will have to keep an eye on it as obviously shouldn’t have come loose. Will also stick a couple of track rod ends on it as they have been there a while I’d say.

Wee quick sound video, doesn’t do it justice but gives an idea.

Lovely.

I'm hoping a trip to an exhaust guy on Friday might make my V8 sound a bit like that.
Tbh it and the rr are stupidly loud but when they’re not being used everyday the better sounding the better regardless of noise haha video will be required! For the sl aye?

They are so different noise wise, rr is a big slow rever with more induction noise where as the 4200 properly screams.

Many Things.
For the sl aye?

Yep. This is the 2nd last thing that needs done and that should be it ready to go. Being honest, I never thought it would cost what it has so far, but hopefully it will all be worth it.

The SL will be like the RR, a lazy revver. At the minute you would think it's a 1.6 with how quiet it is. Shameful really lol

Plenty happened since my last update, but as of today the samurai has sadly made its last trip. Rear subframe rusted almost right through.

IMG_7059.png

£1100 2 1/2 years of mostly 50miles a day, about 100 full to the brim loads of firewood and generally abused it owes us nothing. More a shame than anything else as all its major components work 100% just the dreaded rust has caught it up.

Will break what we can and send the rest to the scrap heap in the sky.

Not worth replacing the subframe?

When you said Samurai I thought you had a SJ410 that I didn't know about and nearly had heart failure that you'd break it :joy:
I wish it was a real samurai lol thought about replacing it but its going to need a list of other things as well and parts are such a nightmare that things like transcooler lines are basically impossible to get, not worth it.
