I was able to finish braid-wrapping the loom over the weekend so it’s pretty much ready for fitting the plugengine is also now sitting ready to be dropped in.

Any smoke yet?

not yet....won’t see any smoke until mark has finished mapping it as I don’t think I’ll be able to start it with the new drive by wire setup.

I think he meant did you remember to put the smoke in the loom before you taped it up? You won't get the authentic kit car aroma of burning wiring without some genuine Lucas wiring loom smoke installed in there... :p

Engine is now buttoned up with the exception of my new lightweight alternator.

Radium fuel rail fitted and the new Audi TT drive by wire throttle body. Much cleaner setup this!

I’ll probably finish the wiring loom tomorrow and then that’s about all I can do with it myself - it will be off to Elite to be mapped.

This loom is testing my patience! Lol

it’s pretty much done now aside from a couple of connectors that I’m waiting on.

Part of me would like to do it over again to get it neater than it is but feck it, it looks ok....for a first loom.

Total respect for tackling that yourself!!

thanks man. I was completely baffled with everything to do with electronics so took this on as it would be a learning curve if nothing else!

I spent over 6hrs planning it on the laptop before I even cut my first wire lol. Check, check and check again before making any snips! Over 40hrs of work later, this is the result lol.

glad it’s past me for sure!

Boring updates still, but my wiring loom is finally finished and fitted to the car.

I’ll be fitting the carbon transmission tunnel this week and tidying up the relay box/under scuttle wiring but apart from that, the car is pretty much ready for mapping.

My god I am so excited! However, Mark’s dyno is being repaired at the minute so I am having(trying) to be patient. Working on a carbon fibre bonnet at the minute as well so would be nice to get that done over the next few weeks for it going back on the road!

I also picked myself up a PS09 lithium ion battery which weighs 1kg!!! Saved me 6kg over my current Odyssey battery!

The aim is 590kg finished, which isn’t too bad for a chunky little boosted thingy 🤞

Nose cone looks incredible - great work!

Did you get the battery local?

Thanks mate - I’m itching to get the bonnet done now as well. No, i ordered the battery online from Hawke Motorsport. I arrived in a few days.
Great work Kev! if you are looking to buy power lite local, LS Distribution at connswater do them

cheers sir - will be even better with these new wheels 😉

Hmmm....the jury is out on these new wheels. I’ve hassled @IL for the best part of a year or more to sell them to me. Picked two up this morning to try and part of me loves them, part of me thinks nah!

they fill the rear arches absolutely perfectly but the fronts are too wide. We have narrower inners to swap over and reduce the front width to 7” or 7.5”

what you all think? Yay or nay?

No contest really, the Image wheels are much better tbh. Wider guards or narrower wheels at the front to sort out how it looks and that's it tbh.
Narrower dish may be the right thing to do as you'll struggle to get heat into the big tyres at the front with such a light car.
