Must have been 30 years ago that my dad who was blind was somehow given the opportunity to drive a stock car around the Dunmore track. It was on Radio Ulster for some reason, can't remember why. The young lads were offenders in a rehab programme but for some reason thought that because my dad could drive, he could see a bit so stopped giving him directions. The one in the car with my dad then asked him why he'd run over a tyre on the inside of the track and bounced the wee lad all over the place. Oh how we laughed. Was the same with the stock car racing. They had a “project” on the shore shore road were they built cars to improve their driving awareness
