At dub shed complete?Yes man it feels so good to see the near done.
Tomorrow will see it finished for now. I then have to sit down and work out how we mount the rear axle as I sold the syncro rear end as I'm going full custom so the car will be back to get that end of things sorted then once I fit the engine in the car will be back down to get all the front part of the cage finished. This could all be done before dub shed so the car might make an appearance at it.
Checked the odds there.. paddy power has it 250/1 at the min lolDubshed... this year?
There's not a square plate on the turret like most do there's a plate wrapped round the turret. The rear strut brace bit is welded to it, look just below that and you'll see the ring of weld holding the plate on and below that you see the factory turret plate poking out.The rear tube coming down into the rear turret doesn't look like it has a reinforcement plate at all. The tube sits partially proud too by the looks of it.
If your happy with it though that's the main thing. I think I'd be a bit more cautious though. My car will be going to Stephen Wishart when I get the money together. But then it will be used on the track and the cage will likely be tested out.
The plan from the out set was to build a fast road car no real plan`s to track it. Then i started looking at cages for my own safety as i did see myself going down the road some night on my roof. I never once looked at a MSA/FIA approved cages as it wasnt something i had given much thought to be honest.
@Ged that rear bar is acting as strut brace. Your more than welcome to have a look round but the car is based in bangor for the next week or more Im heading down on Wednesday.
@Richy the rear strut towers have been strengthened to cope the cage. I have no plans on ripping it out as yet.
The cage is not finished yet as there still is the harness bar to go in and the rear subframe to be made and bolted to the cage.
